University of Florida Profile and Rankings

University of Florida (“UF”) is among the leading public universities in the country. As the State of Florida has grown, the reputation of UF also has grown, now raking it high in a number of the ranking categories we have assessed. Its huge 2000 acre campus is located in Gainesville, Florida, a college town in central Florida, roughly in the middle of the triangle formed by Tallahassee, Jacksonville and Orlando. Like much of Florida, it has natural life, like alligators, and that has made the ‘gator both the school symbol (shown here), and its nickname – the Gators.

University of Florida traditional gator mascotUF has ranked high in a number of academic disciplines, in our RealRank rating, but talking about the Gators, its sports teams also have ranked high periodically, helping to increase its alumni engagement, which is known as the “Gator Nation.” As a member of the Southeastern Conference, football game days are quite popular, with their stadium appropriately nicknamed “The Swamp”. The traditional cheer includes hands clapping in a motion mimicking, what else? Their mascot, the Alligator.

One of philosophies is that they wish to make “great students become even greater.” With this attitude, Florida has achieved a high rating for all categories of diversity, making its campus experience worthwhile for bringing students up to a level of achievement in the real-world, based on solid academic grounding. The rankings in which UF has appeared can be found at the end of this profile.
